BE GREAT: Graduate
Keeping teens on track to earn their diploma through individualized support, mentoring, and intervention.
Every Teen Deserves to Graduate
BE GREAT: Graduate is a Boys & Girls Clubs of America national program designed to help teens who are at risk of dropping out of high school. The program uses individualized case management, academic monitoring, mentoring, and family engagement to remove the barriers that keep young people from completing their education.
At the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, trained staff identify teens who are showing warning signs of disengagement: chronic absenteeism, failing grades, discipline issues, or personal and family challenges that interfere with school. Then they develop a personalized plan that addresses each teen's specific needs and connects them to the support and resources required to get back on track.
The program works because it does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Some teens need academic tutoring. Others need help resolving family issues, accessing mental health services, or overcoming transportation barriers. BE GREAT staff partner with schools, families, and community agencies to create a comprehensive support system around each participant.
How BE GREAT Works
Identify At-Risk Teens
Staff work with school administrators, counselors, and families to identify teens who are showing warning signs of disengagement. Referrals come from schools, community partners, and self-referral.
Assess & Plan
Each participant receives an individualized assessment to identify the specific barriers they face. Staff then create a personalized plan with measurable goals related to attendance, grades, behavior, and personal development.
Support & Mentor
Participants are paired with a dedicated staff mentor who meets with them regularly, monitors their progress, advocates for them at school, and connects them to Club programs and community resources that address their needs.
Engage Families
Families are essential partners in the process. Staff maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, provide support and referrals for family needs, and help create a home environment that supports academic success.
Graduate
The ultimate goal is simple: graduation. Staff celebrate every milestone along the way and help participants transition to college, career training, or employment after high school through connections to other Club programs.
