Girls Competitive Team

Two pathways to competitive excellence: the traditional JO Development track and the flexible Xcel program. USAG-sanctioned competition from local to national levels.

About the Girls Team

The SCAMPS Girls Competitive Team is a USA Gymnastics sanctioned program that develops athletes from their earliest competitive experiences through elite-level competition. Our program offers two distinct competitive pathways, allowing every athlete to find the right fit for their goals, schedule, and competitive drive.

Team members train year-round with increased hours, structured periodization, and competition-focused preparation. All team athletes compete on all four women's apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.

JO Development Program

The Junior Olympic development pathway follows the traditional USAG competitive structure with progressive levels of increasing difficulty and training commitment.

Supertots

Ages 3-5 | 2 days/week | Introduction to team training

Our youngest developmental team athletes. Supertots are identified through the preschool program for their natural ability and enthusiasm. Training focuses on fundamental skills, body positions, and building the discipline needed for competitive gymnastics.

Level 2

Ages 5-7 | 2-3 days/week | Beginning compulsory

Athletes learn their first compulsory routines on all four events. Emphasis on proper technique, form, and competitive etiquette. Level 2 gymnasts compete in local and state-level invitational meets.

Levels 3-5

Ages 6-12 | 3-4 days/week | Compulsory levels

Progressive compulsory routines with increasing skill difficulty. Athletes compete at invitational, state, and regional competitions. Training hours increase as skills become more complex and physically demanding. Level 5 athletes who qualify may advance to optional levels.

Levels 6-10

Ages 8+ | 4-6 days/week | Optional levels

Athletes create their own routines with skills meeting minimum difficulty requirements. Competition at invitational, state championship, regional championship, and national championship levels. Training is intensive, typically 15-25+ hours per week depending on level, with year-round commitment.

Xcel Program

The Xcel program offers a flexible competitive option with less time commitment than the traditional JO track. Ideal for athletes who want to compete but also participate in other activities.

Bronze

2 days/week | Entry level

Introduction to competitive gymnastics. Athletes perform basic skills in a competition setting, building confidence and competitive experience.

Silver

2-3 days/week

Increased skill requirements with more complex routines. Athletes develop greater competitive awareness and consistency.

Gold

3 days/week

Intermediate competitive level with challenging skill requirements. Athletes compete for state and regional qualification.

Diamond

3-4 days/week

Advanced competitive level requiring high-difficulty skills across all events. State and regional competition with national qualification opportunity.

Platinum

4 days/week | Highest Xcel level

The highest level of the Xcel program. Athletes demonstrate near-optional level skills with competition at state, regional, and national championships. Some athletes transition from Platinum into the JO optional track.
